Football Safety Stewards
Since its inception Achilleus has provided football safety stewards to all levels of clubs from the national stadium, Division 1, Premier League to the Ryman League. We understand that you require highly trained team members, each playing a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of your ground. From showing people to their seats and meeting and greeting fans from all over the country and on occasion from all over the world. You need your Stewards to monitor and direct crowds and provide directions, our football stewards appreciate that their duties are wide ranging and sometimes challenging. And that’s why customer service is at the heart of what we do.
Football stewards are the eyes and ears of your ground – they will need to know your ground like the back of their hands as well as understand how to report potential problems to Supervisors, Control and other relevant agencies.
But what is the difference between a steward and an Achilleus’ Football Safety Steward?
All Achilleus’ football safety stewards are put through their paces – they will have passed or be working towards an NVQ Level 2 Spectator Safety Qualification and carried out further training within the company including Physical Intervention, First Aid and in customer service training.

Training, Appearance & Skill Counts
In order to do that, our football safety stewards have a range of skills in such areas as:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 Spectator Safety/Crowd Management
- Level 2 Customer Service
- Communication Skills
- Conflict Management
- First Aid (Basic and First Aid at Work)
- Fire Awareness
- Terrorism Awareness
- Crowd Management Awareness
- Level 2 Health and Safety
In addition our football safety stewards have a working knowledge of law, risk management and the prevention of terrorism. In addition to this a majority of our football safety stewards have attended Project Argus and Project Griffin courses, this we feel is vital to ensure that they can play their part in further protecting your fans and stakeholders from the threat of terrorism. These skills and others can be expected of your Achilleus Football Safety Steward.
Screening & Vetting Policy
All Football Safety Stewards are screened and vetted to a 5-year standard as detailed in BS7858:2012 including enhanced Criminal Bureau Check.
